Italy has fewer nude beaches than many of its neighbours (perhaps due to the influence of the Catholic church), and most are out of the way such that cfnm opportunities are rare.

The exception is the official Capocotta nudist beach near Rome, which is a cfnm experience for those who enjoy an appreciative audience and don't mind ending up on camera (and, by extension, online).

Capocotta can be found on (the road) Via Litoranea, just south of the coastal town of Ostia. It is accessible from Rome via a combination of Train (to Cristoforo Colombo station) and then Bus (ask the locals), but is easier to access via car. It is 45-75 minutes drive from the centre of Rome, depending on traffic. Beware that the road does not have a footpath and walking along the road is not recommended. The bus stops right across the road from the beach, and there is paid parking at the beach which fills up early on a summer weekend. The nudist beach is a 250m long section of sand in front of cafe Oasi Naturista (marked on google maps) - GPS is your best bet because there are many beaches that can be confusing. There is a low partial fence at either end marking the extent of the nudist section.

Capocotta has apparently seen unofficial nudist use since the 1970s, before gaining official status in 2005. I guess back in the 70s this would have been an undeveloped stretch of coastline, but the resorts of Torvalanica have grown and now the area is very busy in the summer, especially on weekends. Had it not had such a long history of nude use, I doubt this is where anyone would choose to put a nude beach now.

I have visited twice - in April 2018 and in July 2017. In April, the beach was uncrowded and nudists could be found in both the official nudist section and for about 1km north from there. The official nudist section was mixed male and female, with the unofficial section mostly gay men. In July, both the nudist section and surrounding beaches were very busy, and nudists seemed to be confined to the official nude section.

Unlike Spain, France, or Croatia, where nudism is commonplace, Italians still see it a a something of a novelty. On both occasions I was there, there was a parade of bikini clad Italians who would leave the clothed section to walk past the nude section and gawk. I have never seen more obvious voyeuristic behaviour by such a large fraction of the female visitors to a beach. Voyeurism has gotten to the point where many nudists now recommend staying away from the beach - they claim textile tourists are ruining the experience, wandering around fully clothed, staring, even taking pictures.

Capocotta isn't as pure a cfnm experience as, say, Black's beach in San Diego. There are some nude women, and a reasonable number of clothed men. Its more of a mixed clothed/nude environment. What makes it unique, in my experience, is the large number of clothed women who walk along the shoreline, stare, make comments, and take photos with their phones, like they were looking at the exhibits at the zoo. If you offer a friendly "Ciao" they will often stop to chat. Those I spoke to didn't seem at all shy about their reason for wandering into the nude section - a mix of curiosity and voyeurism.

I'm italian and i agree: we do not have so many nudist beaches. The few nudist beaches that we have, are often populated by very old people - in a small area too. It's impossible to compare the Italian situation with those of neighboring countries. I was been in five italian nudist beaches and my experience was "depressing".
Spain, France, Greece or Croatia... Go there, if you really want to enjoy your summer.

P.s.: just because of it, many italian girls, when they are abroad, choose nudist beaches. It's something new and funny for them, so they are very pleased to see naked people around. I recognize them quite easily, because they spend all the time to take pics, laugh and talk to everyone. Really. You can have a better and more direct approach, if you speak their language. If you don't: no problem, they often speak a good/comprehensible english. Generally, they are not naked but they wear a bikini (or topless+tanga).
