The Power Exchange is an on-premises fetish and sex club located at 220 Jones Street in downtown San Francisco. The Power Exchange, which has been around for many years, has closed and reopened in different locations a number of times. It was forced to move out of its Otis Street address when the building landlord went bankrupt, then, moved to 34 Mason Street. Apparently, the Fire Department and activists then again forced it's closure. It now has it's home on Jones Street. Although it has a dungeon, it doesn't seem to be oriented exclusively towards D/s/BDSM play as much as it is about swinging and open sex; however, the dungeon is open to anyone who might like to watch others engage in S&M paly. The reviews back then as well as today (see links below) confirm that the club is a venue for both exhibitionists to enjoy being watched, and for voyeurs that enjoy watching.
As a disclaimer, I've never been there. But over they years I've been reading about it, and what made it appropriate for a CFNM board were reviews written during it's previous location(s). At the time it had a rule - single females were, of course, given a nominal fee to enter with couples a bit higher. However, single men were given a significantly higher entry cost
unless they agreed to strip naked and enter wearing only a towel. This different nudity standard for men versus women pulled the environment towards a CFNM one. They never published the reason for this, although I surmise it was to keep the number of male gawkers out such that only naked men were granted admittance. Accordingly, I read reviews back in those days where the women going described a classic CFNM environment - the women, who all had a very low entry cost, typically remain clothed whereas most of the men remained naked.
However, upon looking at the website today, I could not find that the tiered pricing for men showing an incentive for male nudity like the good old days. The reviews on Yelp are both horrible and great, with the preponderance of younger attractive females (see their photos in link below) trending towards 1-star. It seems clear that the male-to-female ratio is very high; however, I've never been in a sex club or erotic/nudist venue that allows single males that was different. A couple of the females comment about how men will sit in the nude jacking off for others to watch, and, some of the females were perturbed when men would offer them the opportunity to watch them masturbate.
Power Exchange - Official SitePower Exchange - Yelp ReviewsOne of the females (Miss Kae O) that gave this club a high rating put things into perspective, and I think it relates to all such reviews for the other venues in this forum. She basically calls it as it is - this is an open sex club. Many people that aren't into that want to just go see what it's like, then are turned completely off...not necessarily because of the club itself, but what goes on. In addition, it IS San Francisco, and, there WILL be a lot of men at any sex club that allows single men. For this reason, a number of the heterosexual men that go expecting to have an orgy with women, yet encounter numerous naked men masturbating, write scathing reviews even calling it a "gay" hangout (btw, in San Fran, a gay man needs not go to a heterosexual club for action - there are tons of venues specifically for gays). Alternatively, the fact that there are many reviews by attractive younger women that have gone and clearly did not disrobe, and, the fact that it appears to be acceptable, appropriate and common for any guy to be nude and be masturbating when in the presence of those women, it clearly experiences extreme CFNM activity, albeit sometimes not a happy ending for both the male exhibitionists and the female voyeurs.
It is what it is. Again, I've never been, so if anyone wants to share a first-hand review (uh, no pun intended) please do so.
