CFNM Village Discussion Forum
Important Notice!
As most CFNM Villagers have learned, I (Brad) decided to not renew the discussion forum when the webhosting plan terminated. The reasons were explained in depth, but primarily included the financial cost to renew, and the huge effort it would take to migrate the forum to a new host. The website's content management system, WordPress, was using a version that was almost 10-years old. The challenge with updating it would be that many of the original "plugins" (installed apps that make certain features work) were no longer supported meaning that the website would have to be rebuilt.
In addition, the discussion forum board was built upon the script coding known as "php", which was also as old. Updating the php platform would have resulted in the forum irrevocably crashing because the stylistic theme originally used was also no longer supported.
HOWEVER, I received a number of heart-felt thanks and appreciation notes from many of you, despite realizing the forum was about to be terminated. One of the most important came from my oldest and dearest friend on the board, Scooter.
So in the final hours before the website terminated, and after I had told the webhost I was letting the website go quietly into the night, the webhost told me that they could cut the cost of renewal for 5 years in half, but I'd have to get a new hosting plan and they'd "help" me migrate the site.
And that is what I did. After many aggravating failures by the webhost to migrate the site, they finally succeeded, and it is now back up in it's old glory, but now operating within the new, updated WordPress system, and will be around now until September, 2029.
Unfortunately, transferring the phpBB database to a new phpBB board proved extremely difficult, and despite promises it would be "plug and play", it ultimately failed. I have been on various phpBB support forums talking to moderators, but such migration is extremely difficult and requires coding language I do not have.
The current plan is to keep working with the webhost's tech support, who know about WordPress, but not how to migrate an old phpBB discussion forum.
The plan is two fold, 1) keep trying to get the old forum back, but if not 2) create a new one. This latter attempt will mean everyone will have to re-register, and all old content will be lost (although I don't see that as necessarily all bad because there were thousands of broken links and old posts, and of lot of outdated stuff). The good news is that you'll be able to re-register using the same username, email and password as before. I will provide the link to the new discussion board here, and it will also be found on the main website.
REGARDLESS, THE CFNMVillage DISCUSSION BOARD WILL BE RETURNING AND BE AROUND ANOTHER 5-YEARS!
